Ponta Do Ouro

A 4x4 vehicle is required to negotiate the very tricky sand roads to Ponta do Ouro from the Kosi Bay Border, however there is secure parking (Skelm's Parking - at a daily fee) at the border for regular 2WD vehicles where 4x4 transfer services from the border to Ponta do Ouro is offered.

We highly recommend you fill up with fuel in Manguzi, South Africa (en-route to the border) especially for those travelling in a 4x4 because the fuel station at Ponta do Ouro can run 'dry' during the busy holiday season. Manguzi is also a good stopover for basic supplies. There is a Boxer wholesaler, Spar, chemist, a few hardware shops and FNB / Absa atms where you can draw money (ZAR rands are accepted in Ponta do Ouro, Ponta Malongane & Ponta Mamoli).
