Duty-free allowances
Each visitor has allowances to import the following duty free items / goods:

| Meat, Groceries & Other Goods: | ▪︎Up to the value of 5000Mt per person (including children). ▪︎Travelling to Mozambique through Swaziland: Swaziland does have restrictions on vegetables, fruits, plants, dairy products and meat however border officials may waive frozen meat and / or vacuum packed meat. Otherwise there is plenty of grocery stores in Swaziland to buy fresh produce and meat. |

Note:
If you are entering Mozambique with $US 5000 or more, a "Declaration of entry of foreign currency" must be collected and completed at the customs desk.
Health Tip
Due to outbreaks of animal diseases from time to time in different countries, the import of any meat may be prohibited or confiscated at the border. If you are planning to bring meat or any meat product(s) over the border, then please contact authorities directly to confirm and to avoid inconvenience.
Prohibited or Restricted Goods:
The following goods are prohibited from importing unless you have a license or a certified permit to do so:
🔰 Any weapon such as firearms, ammunition or explosives.
🔰 Narcotics, habit forming drugs and related substances in any form.
🔰 BeerIndecent and obscene material such as pornographic books, magazines, films, videos, DVDs and software.
Mozambique's currency and buying power.
Travellers to Mozambique can quite easily convert the South African Rand, US dollar (only new-design), British Pound and Euro currencies into Meticais at bureaux de change and banks in main towns & cities, eg: Maputo. Do not rely on smaller towns for currency exchange services.
