Let us begin by quoting the Constitution of this Country particularly the preamble which speaks of “Exalting and extolling the brave men and women who sacrificed their lives during the Chimurenga/Umvukela and national liberation struggles and honouring our forebears and compatriots who toiled for the progress of our country”.
The Zimbabwe National Army is scheduled to host a fun shoot which facilitates members of the army to interact with civilians in Manhica-land province, on the outskirts of Mutare.
Expectations are high for a huge turnout at the Commander Zimbabwe Defence Forces Manicaland chapter fun shoot set for tomorrow at the Gimboki Gallery Range in Dangamvura Mutare.
The chairman of the initiative, Trust Mabaya, said the event is meant to create interaction between business, civilians and the army.
“The Executive Interactive Initiative Fun Shoot is the brain child of the Zimbabwe Defence Forces Commander General Phillip Valerio Sibanda and the idea behind this is to create communication and interaction between the Zimbabwe National Army, business people and civilians. This is an open event where everyone is invited to take part and the atmosphere is ideal for a family outing,” he said.
People from all walks of life are invited to turn up for the event, including young participants of primary school going age
"In this event we are going to rope in more corporates to support the event. As you can see some are here and we will also make this event more visible even in the media so that we pull more crowds, but we are satisfied with today’s turn out" he said.
It is hereby notified that the Minister of Defence and War Veterans Affairs, in terms of section 113(2)(a) of the Defence Act has approved this fundraising program aimed to empower local support and awareness of Military at any level.
The Zimbabwe Defence Forces’ (ZDF) interaction fundraising events are aimed at mobilizing funds and uplifting disadvantaged groups in communities for the ZNA's five charities which include the Tsanga Lodge Rehabilitation Centre, ZNA Welfare Fund, ZNA Patients Fund, ZNA Benevolent Fund, ZNA Schools and Welfare Trust and the ZNA Wid- ows and Orphans.
All the money that will be raised from this event will be donated to children’s homes, like we always do annually and to us this is a way of giving back to the community
