Aloha 18 Beach Lodge

Only a 40-minute drive from the Kosi Bay border, along sandy roads, you will find Aloha Estate. Situated on the beach in Ponta Mamoli, Mozambique. House number 18 is a beachfront house, privately situated, and has sea views from every room in the house.

The holiday home has 5 bedrooms, a satellite flat-screen TV, an equipped kitchen with a fridge and an oven, a washing machine, and 5 bathrooms with a shower. Towels and bed linen are provided.

Bedrooms

This stunning 5 bedroom home is a beachfront house which has seaviews from all the rooms and direct beach access. The design comprises separate buildings which house the bedrooms and the main living area. 

All bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and air conditioning in double bedrooms.  All bedrooms have ceiling fans

The bed configuration in the bedrooms are as per below:

Bedroom 1 has 1 queen size bed

Bedroom 2 has 1 queen size bed

Bedroom 3 has 1 queen size bed with a bunk bed

Bedroom 4 has 1 queen size bed with 2 single beds

Bedroom 5 has 1 queen size bed with 2 single beds

All 5 bedrooms have en suite bathrooms.

Each bedroom is comfortably furnished with ceiling fans, bedside tables with bedside lamps, and en suite bathrooms. Each bathroom has a shower, basin, and toilet. All linen, bath, and beach towels are provided. All bedrooms are sea-facing and have a sea breeze running through the house.

Please take note that the swimming pool does not have a child safety net.

Facilities 

The living area consists of an open plan kitchen and lounge. The lounge has a TV with full DSTV and lounges seating for around 9 people.

The kitchen is well equipped with a 4 plate gas hob, oven, microwave, crockery and cutlery for 16 people, 2 fridges, 1 x 500-liter chest freezer, washing machine and all the equipment that you would require in a kitchen for self-catering. There is a large dining room table in the living area.

There is a wifi router with a Vodacom Mozambique sim card inside it. 1 gig of data costs around R50. You can give 1 of the housekeepers money to purchase the data for you and load it to the sim card inside the router.

All cleaning materials are provided as well as black bags.

The washing machine is to be operated by the staff only. If you would like laundry done it is R150 per load.

We have provided a water filter at the prep bowl in the kitchen. Only this water is drinkable. Teeth can be brushed with water in the bedrooms but are not to be consumed. If you prefer bottled water then please bring that along.

2 housekeepers are here to look after you with duties include cleaning, washing dishes, making beds, and general cleaning. The staff doesn't do any cooking.

The surrounding area

A 5-minute walk down the beach brings you to Frederico's snorkeling spot, famous for snorkeling. Ensure that you take snorkeling gear along. Hiking can be enjoyed in the surroundings.

Turtles lay their eggs between November and February which you can witness if you take a stroll on the beach in the evenings after darkHumpback and Southern Right Whale sightings are prolific from July to November.  Pods of dolphins can be seen all year round.

Humpback and Southern Right Whale sightings are prolific from July to November. The Elephant Reserve is a 30-minute drive north where you can have a day picnic around one of the lakes and if you are lucky you might sight the elephants.

If you wanting to get to the hustle and bustle then it's a mere 15-minute drive to Ponta Malongane Village where there are various restaurants. They have local Portuguese flavor, are fairly rustic with views over Lake Sugi, watch the sunset over the lake.

The local currency is meticais but everyone welcomes Rands and there is no need for other currencies.

For ice you can buy bags of ice in Ponta Malongane or on the Zitundu road (the WhitePearl road) at R30 a bag, stock up with bags of ice on your drive to the house. Built-in braai facilities at the property. Charcoal and wood are for sale on site. Please ask Luther.

*There is a public lunch site available at R100 per launch.

Please take note: Under no circumstances is this house allowed to be booked for any function or event whats so ever. This includes birthday parties, weddings, and any other function and/or event.

Important Information

Please note that a 4x4 is required to reach Aloha estate (You need to reduce tyre pressure by 1,2 - 1,5 bars max) No 2x4 vehicles will be permitted on the premises as they are damaging the roads on the estate. The swimming pool at this house has no safety features. Use of the swimming pool and the associated amenities and facilities is strictly at your own risk.

Rates & payments 

1. Please check rates and availability for your dates on the calendar at the top of the page
2. Full payment is required prior to arrival (50% deposit secures and balance is required 1 month prior to arrival). If arrival is within 31 days, then full payment is required
3. A R75.00 service fee (non-refundable) is required with deposit payment

Breakage Deposit

R3,800.00 - Refundable breakage deposit will be required with your balance of payment.  This will be refunded within 14 days of departure, pending any breakages/losses.

Staff

R140.00 – Staff cleaning fee.

There is a compulsory daily staff tip of R70 per day for each of the 2 housekeepers, this includes your day of arrival and departure.

Their working hours are 7:00 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 12 on Saturdays.

If you would like them to work Saturday afternoon you need to pay them R75 for the afternoon and if you would like them to work on Sundays and Public Holidays then you need to pay them R150 each for those days.

Their working hours include a 1-hour lunch break

Luther is the gardener and also cleans the pool, braai and outside areas. There is no compulsory staff tip for him, however, a gratuity is always welcome.
