Merry Pebbles Lodge

Located on the banks of the Sabie River, 0.9 mi from the village center of Sabie, Merry Pebbles offers self-catering accommodation. Its sports facilities include waterslides, an outdoor pool and tennis.

Merry Pebbles is a family orientated holiday resort which is situated ideally for use as the gateway to the Kruger National Park. Merry Pebbles Resort is owner managed and is a graded establishment, both The Automobile Association of South Africa in the category (Highly Recommended Self-catering Accommodation) as well as by The Tourism Grading Council of South Africa (3 Star) grading.

MERRY PEBBLES LODGE

Merry Pebbles Holiday Resort and Caravan Park is situated on the banks of the upper reaches of the Sabie River within the municipal boundary of the mountain village Sabie, 1km from the village centre.

Accommodates 6 adults privately with an option of a sleeper couch in the lounge, the lodges are the premier accommodation units on offer at Merry Pebbles.

ACCOMODATION ATTRIBUTES 

The units comprise of a double story building, three bedroom (1x double bed, 4x single beds, with linen), two bathrooms (1x shower, toilet, basin, 1x bath, toilet, basin and bath towels), kitchen (four plate stove with oven, microwave oven, fridge, crockery and cutlery), living area (sleeper couch with linen, fire place), dining room, patio and furniture.

When the sleeper couch is used a maximum of 6 adults and 2 children can be accommodated. (Provide own swimming towels please).

The units are serviced daily, excepting for the crockery and cutlery. Colour TV with DSTV 16 channels are provided (M-net, Kyk-net, Movie Magic, cartoons and Supersport options are available) as well as a braai area. All rooms have ceiling fans, and wall heaters. Covered shade parking for two vehicles are provided.

All units are non smoking facilities.

FACILITIES & ATTRACTIONS 

The resort offers a wide variety of activities for all the family. A heated pool and volleyball court are on offer, and children have access to play areas, trampolines and minigolf. The games room features table tennis, pool tables and video games, while fishing, canoeing and cycling are just some of the activities available in the grounds. Children can play in the heated or cold water pools on the water slides and in the play-park.

New attractions include Outdoor Chess, as well as Mini-Golf (Putt-Putt). Fishing is permitted, the river is stocked on a regular basis with Rainbow Trout, whilst Yellow Fish occur naturally in the river. Tubing on the river is one of the most popular activities at the resort, many different sizes and colour tubes or boats are now available for sale at reception.

Sabie Village is 0.9 mi from Merry Pebbles Resort and the golf course at Sabie Country Club is a 5-minute drive away. On-site parking is free.

RESTAURANT 

A fully licensed a la Carte’ restaurant is situated onsite, open every night as well as for lunch (closed Monday lunch). When not in the mood for cooking or braaing i.e. making a BBQ at your accommodation or site, why not make use of our cosy restaurant frequented by the locals and guests alike.

We offer a wide variety of dishes, ranging from traditional "potjiekos" through to pizzas and trout a speciality when in Sabie. However our steaks are legendary. With Ice cold beers and drinks in the summer to cool you down, or a warm log fire, Red Wine and Irish Coffee to warm you up on chilli winter nights.

Merry Pebbles Resort and Caravan Park is essentially a family orientated holiday resort - however we do cater for small intimate conferences. (25 delegates maximum.)

 

The Royal Coachman is a small intimate room with its own private pub, the room is air-conditioned and also has a cosy fireplace.

(Kingfisher’s, Long Crested Eagles, Fish Eagles, Gymnogene, Owles, Palm Swift, Swallows, Martins, Knysna & Purple Crested Lourie, Burchells Coucal, Wagtails, Robins, Shrikes, Mannekins, Secretary Bird, Egrets, Ducks, Storks, Whyda’s, Weavers, Mouse Birds, and many LBJ’s).

Whether you like fly-fishing for trout or yellow-fish the Sabie River Trout Angling Association gives access to both (licenses for the Sabie and Pilgrims Rest Fly fishing club are available at reception). Within the resort licenses are not required, fishing is not restricted to flyfishing tackle on the resort by guests.

 

The more energetic can take to the Loerie Hiking Trail, the Ceylon mountain bike trails on Komatiland Forest plantations (permits sold at reception).

 

Heated and cold water swimming pools as well as the water slides are some of the star features at the resort. A recreation hall with table tennis, pool tables, video games and Big screen TV will provide fun for everyone. There is also an extensive play-park with trampolines and jungle-gym. A floodlit tennis court is available for guests exclusive use on site, the rental of tennis rackets and sale of tennis balls are available at reception.

 

Access is available to the local Sabie Country Club where free temporary membership is valid for all guests while staying at Merry Pebbles. The local country club offers golf, squash, bowls, pool tables and a full size snooker table.
