Experience the thrill and adventure of scuba diving in what many regard as some of the best dive sites in Africa!
Several huge pillars loom up from the ocean floor supporting a great variety of life: Goldies, Wrasse, Snappers, Fusiliers, Bigeyes, while Game fish circle around. Gullies and holes each hide a surprise Nudibranks, Goatfish and Lizardfish among them.
At the southern edge of this crater, you’ll find a huge chimney reminiscent of that of a factory – this is what gives this reef its name. The chimney, which only has space for two divers at a time, is covered with brightly coloured nudibranchs and moray eels as well as clownfish and anemone fish and much more. Those with a keen eye should look out for the harlequin shrimp nestled into one of the reef’s many crevices.
Chimney Reef is also one of the five dive sites in Tofo where you have the chance of seeing whale sharks on scuba so keep your eyes peeled! Another of our “LEMON & HERB” rated dive sites, Chimney Reef is suitable for all levels including newly qualified divers or those looking to refresh their skills.
Perfect site for getting back into the water or brushing up on your skills.
"For most of history, man has had to fight nature to survive; in this century he is beginning to realize that, in order to survive, he must protect it." – JACQUES COUSTEAU
